Nikon D5100 Hands-on Review

It’s here, oh yeah – it’s the Nikon D5100 review! This update to the D5100 looks pretty much the same, so what has changed? And what makes this a good rival to the Canon EOS 600D as an entry-level DSLR? Pricing Reference Nikon D5100: www.digitalrev.com Got a question? In this video, we take another look at the Nikon D3100, a DSLR that is aimed at entry-level users. In our previous review, done by Lok, he used some rather “technical” language that might have perplexed some of the beginners out there, so, in this video we aim to review the camera in as easy-to-understand way as possible.

Is the Nikon D5100′s image quality better than the Nikon D3100……i don’t care about video, just image quality.

I got this camera this week. It’s great, the video looks awesome, continuous focus is pretty good, shooting video in monochrome looks fantastic. However, be aware that the focus motor is very noisy and your internal mic AND any external mic fitted to the camera body WILL pick it up! Because of this I’d give the Nikon D5100 4/5.

i prefer this type of preview which actually great ways to show the feature while roaming around outdoor as normal that we people use taking a picture than reviewing it indoor..and thanks to this review i was thinking buying D90 and moved to D3100 but after i watch this great review now im getting D5100!!!

@RealMCR12 know what , i used to own a sony TX-1 digital camera and it was greatt at nearly half the price , now i made a long term investment in a poor machine :( anyway sorry for going off topic , this camera can be operated in auto focus mode and manual focus mode and the auto mode is just horrible which leaves u clueless and forced to learn how to operate it in manual mode , just drop by some more bucks and buy the canon 550D , just my two cents :) good luck

@77GOG You are getting more and more “Spec” for your money as time goes on. If you want a full frame you will have to dig deeper into your pocket and find more money.

@RealMCR12 A Canon should be the best at video and make sure to get one with an external mic input! Which the D3100 does not have.

@RealMCR12 Canon. Now, i am not trying to make people angry (trolling), but you have to admit, the full time af on the nikon D3100 D5100, D7000 isn’t that great. Manual video control is a must for good video. Canon cameras (600D, 60D) is your best bet.

Here’s my advice: buy it, throw the lens it comes with away, buy a nice all manual prime lens, play with it, wait for Nikon to produce affordable full-frame DSLRs (year 2019, maybe), and then couple your prime lens to the new Nikon body. You’ll have BOKEHLICIOUS photos!…

Hey, Nikon, I want a full frame! I want shallow depth of field! Put a 35mm 2.0 good prime lens in your camera kits, ok? If I wanted a bloody zoom with no bokehbility I’d rather go for a “20x zoom point & shoot my head” :)

This Nikon is really incredible I had the D5000 before, the image quality it’s really high, exposure metering is great, great ISO, and the video is really good (better with some silenced lens anyway).

@karldays it has it, turn on life wiev, then press the i button on the left of the camera, with the arrows go to the autofocus, and select AF-F.
If you can’t find something you should read the manual, it’s really good made.
